Anglicans profane a Roman Basilica

In the context of a week for ecumenical unity, the Anglican sect received from Pope Francis the Basilica of St. Bartholomew to say an "Anglican Eucharist," which actually took place on January 25, 2024.

In Rome the Catholic Church used to dedicate this week – January 18 to 25 – to prayer for the conversion of the Jews, given that the conversion of Alphonse Ratisbonne took place on January 20, 1842, through a miraculous apparition of Our Lady to that important Jewish banker. After the Council, the week came to be dedicated to prayer for unity with the Jews, thus implicitly denying the message of Our Lady that Jews must convert to Catholicism.

Later it became a week for ecumenical unity in general. In other words, it is particularly offensive to the dogma that only in the Catholic Faith one can find salvation.

As shown on this page the head of the Anglican Sect, Justin Welby, profaned the Basilica San Bartolomeo by performing a protestant service there.

The Basilica San Bartolomeo was given by the Vatican to the Sant'Egidio Community, which is an ecumenical lay movement. The yellow panel we can see above the central altar contains "relics of new martyrs." It was placed there in 2002, dedicated to the "martyrs of the 20th century," among whom we find those of communist Bishop Oscar Romero, evangelical protestant pastor Paul Schneider and schismatic monk Sofian Boghiu.
